Pianist Christina Wright ’08 and violinist Megan McPhee ’07 spent their summers in South America working with El Sistema. Megan was in Bolivia for six weeks working with one of the Venezuelan music education program’s satellite projects. Christina worked in Venezuela with the Acarigua/Araure Orchestra. Stationed in the Portugeusa state about five hours west of Caracas, Christina performed three concerts in three different cities with soloists from the Orquesta Infantil de Acarigua/Araure. For five weeks, she rehearsed every day with the students, watched their practice habits and coached them in their first piano solo experiences.
